It’s Starting To Come Together

It’s start­ing to come together, despite a very busy weekI had some time this week­end and very del­i­cately began assem­bly.  I really don’t want to push it, the paint needs time to fully cure.  I began by installing the new trunk seal over the week­end.  I care­fully laid it out to insure it was long enough, then spent an hour try­ing to decide if the lip faced in or out and then began.  The adhe­sive direc­tions said to apply to both sides let set up and then press then together, well I put it together wet and it was a good thing because when I went to close the lid it was fold­ing the seal out instead of in.  Now I know why the lip faces out, any­way I had to pull it out and now had about 18 feet of rub­ber coated with glue.  Long story short, I reversed it, put it back in the right way this time and some­how man­aged not to get glue all over the car.  Ended up with a per­fect job, in spite of the idiot installing it.  I was a lit­tle late for the cook­out, but all ended well and for the first time in 30 years or so she won’t leak any water into the trunk!!!

Sun­day I installed the trunk bezel, V trim and trunk lock assem­bly and then I hung the rear bumper and boy it sure looks nice!  Today I spent the day assem­bling the tail lights, cement­ing the rub­ber gas­kets on and get­ting them on the car, installed the tail light lenses and spent about an hour look­ing for the reverse light lenses before finally giv­ing up for the day.  I told my wife that they really are not lost, I just don’t have a clue where they are hid­ing.  Ah well, tomor­row is another day.….

Paul is com­ing in tomor­row to give me a hand, with 2 peo­ple we will be able to do the final adjust­ments on the bumper to align every­thing and then lock it down for good.
